About the Role
We are seeking a Business Development Representative based in Damascus, Syria to support DocStream in understanding and expanding into the Syrian market, particularly within the language services sector.

As Syria begins to open up, it is vital to assess the evolving needs and opportunities in the country. This role will play a key part in gathering insights, building relationships, and representing DocStream on the ground.

Key Responsibilities

• Map out the market landscape by answering key questions such as:
  • Which organizations are currently investing and expanding services in Syria?
  • Are these organizations primarily from the private or public sector?
  • What types of language services are most in demand?
  • What are the expected market rates for such services?
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including humanitarian and aid agencies, government representatives, and private sector actors.
• Represent DocStream in meetings, events, and networking opportunities to build brand awareness and credibility.
• Share structured market insights and recommendations with the DocStream leadership team.

Secondary Responsibilities (second priority)

• Assess the availability and quality of local talent in the language services field.
• Explore local infrastructure realities (e.g., internet access, communication tools).
• Identify typical talent rates and working conditions.

Qualifications & Profile

• Strong professional network within humanitarian, aid, and government sectors in Syria.
• Awareness of ongoing private sector developments and investments.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to provide structured insights and reports in a clear, concise manner.
• Previous experience in business development, partnerships, or market research is a plus.
• Fluency in Arabic required; English proficiency strongly preferred.
